Fansly vs OnlyFans: which one to start on, and how to split your content
Updated · LuxOnly Creators
Quick answer: both keep 20% of what fans pay you. The big difference is discovery: Fansly has a For You page where people can find you inside the platform, while on OnlyFans most fans arrive from your own promo. OnlyFans is the name fans already search for. Plenty of creators run both, staggered, instead of posting the exact same thing on both the same day.
What's the difference between OnlyFans and Fansly?
Here's the side-by-side, from the creator's point of view. Every row comes from each platform's own terms or help center, checked on November 8, 2026.
| OnlyFans | Fansly | |
|---|---|---|
| Who runs it | Fenix International Limited, a UK company (Terms) | Select Media LLC, a Maryland company (Terms) |
| Platform cut | 20% of each fan payment | Creators earn 80% of subscriptions, sales and tips |
| Discovery inside the platform | The Terms say it may use recommender systems; most fans still come from outside | A For You page: only posts you mark show there, and locked media needs a free preview (Help Center) |
| Creator verification | Valid ID, two photos and identity verification | Third-party ID check, plus photos and a short video holding your ID and a handwritten sign (Help Center) |
| Getting paid | Withdraw once you reach the minimum payout; typically in USD, with conversion fees if needed | Sales sit 7 days as pending (Help Center); minimums depend on the method (list) |
| Letting a team help | Allowed, but you stay legally responsible; OnlyFans' relationship is with you | "Management Sessions" give access without your password; payouts and account closure stay locked (Help Center) |
| AI content | Only if it clearly features you and is labeled, like #ai | No photorealistic AI content, and no AI replying to fans without human oversight |
Are OnlyFans and Fansly the same company?
No. OnlyFans is owned and operated by Fenix International Limited, registered in England and Wales. Fansly is owned and operated by Select Media LLC, based in Maryland. Two separate companies, two sets of rules, two accounts to verify.
Which is better if you're starting with no followers?
If you have no audience anywhere yet, Fansly's For You page gives you a shot at being found inside the platform, which OnlyFans mostly doesn't. If you already have a following, or plan to build one on social media, OnlyFans is the name most fans recognize.
Honestly, neither one finds fans for you on autopilot. Both reward a plan: see our OnlyFans marketing strategy, which works for Fansly too.
Which one takes a smaller cut?
On paper, it's the same: OnlyFans' fee is 20% of each fan payment, and on Fansly creators earn 80%. What changes is the small print around it: OnlyFans mentions currency conversion fees and chargeback deductions; Fansly mentions chargeback deductions, a 7-day pending period and, if you don't log in for a full year, a monthly inactivity fee taken from your balance. So compare when and how you get paid, not just the percentage.
Can you run both? How to split your content
Yes, and lots of creators do. The trick is not to mirror them. If both pages get the same thing the same day, fans who follow you on both have no reason to pay twice. Here's a staggered two-week plan you can copy:
| Day | OnlyFans | Fansly |
|---|---|---|
| Mon | New set (feed) | Free preview of an older set, for the For You page |
| Wed | PPV in messages | New set (feed) |
| Fri | Poll or behind-the-scenes | Locked post with a free preview |
| Sun | Weekly recap for subscribers | PPV in messages |
| Week 2: swap the columns, so each page gets each type of content first every other week. | ||
Keep the same stage name on both, so fans who find you on one can find you on the other.
What about Fanvue, Patreon or other platforms?
They exist, and some creators use them. Each has its own rules on adult content, fees and payouts, and they change. We haven't put them in the table because we only publish what we've checked at the source. If you're considering one, read its creator terms with the same questions: who runs it, what it keeps, how it pays and what it allows.
Decision guide: which should you open first?
| If this sounds like you | Start with |
|---|---|
| No audience anywhere yet, and some time to post daily | Fansly, using the For You page |
| You already have a following on social media | OnlyFans, with your promo pointing there |
| You want both and have time for two inboxes | Both, staggered, with the plan above |
| Very little time | One only, done well |
Frequently asked questions
Is Fansly better than OnlyFans?
Not better, different. Both keep 20% of fan payments. Fansly has built-in discovery through its For You page; OnlyFans is the platform most fans already know. The right one depends on whether you already have an audience.
Does OnlyFans or Fansly pay more?
Per sale, the cut is the same: 20% to the platform, 80% to you. What differs is timing and small print, like Fansly's 7-day pending period and payout minimums by method, or OnlyFans' currency conversion fees.
Should I start a Fansly if I already have OnlyFans?
It can make sense if you have time to post on both and you stagger the content. Use Fansly's For You page to be found, and keep each page a little different so fans who follow you on both have a reason to.
Can I block countries on Fansly?
Yes. Fansly's Creator Security FAQ says you can block a country, state or city in your Privacy & Safety settings, and users there see a blank page. It helps, but it isn't foolproof against VPNs or screenshots.
To create on these platforms you must be 18 or older and verify your identity with the platform.
